Maria Flores-Ortiz

Maria Flores-Ortiz, 65, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on June 18, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT. She was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to the late Leonicio Flores and Maria E. Morales. She is the beloved wife of Rafael Ortiz. Maria was a very loving and nurturing person. Because of her innate nurturing way she was the neighborhood block mom who tended to everyone. Her thoughtfulness led her to create meaningful memories for all. Maria was a graduate of Norwalk High School. Although Maria was faced with many challenges early in her life she triumphed with such greatness she opened her heart and home to all those in need. Regardless of the issues that faced those who sought her assistance she fed, clothed and housed them all. However the greatest thing she provided them with was her ability to mother and nurture them unconditionally. Aside from her husband Maria leaves to cherish her memories her loving children Jesus "Kojak" Rivera Sr., Heriberto "Eddie" Flores (Yahaira Flores), Myrta "Dana" Flores, Maria "Mari" Perez , Shari "Sharika" Ortiz (Melissa Ortiz) and Ivelisse "Ebby" Ortiz, 12 grandchildren, honorary mention goes to Shana Melendez "Mami Lela", her 6 great grandchildren, countless acquired children that she loved just the same, and her adoring 8 siblings Juan "John" Flores, Margarita Bland, Milagros "Millie" Morales, Magda E. " Maggie" Gonzalez, Carmen L. Alicea, Juanita Morales, Maria F. Gonzalez and Barbara Whitaker. Maria now joins in heaven Luz Maria "Lucy" Flores, Osvaldo "Brian" Flores and Ana I. Gonzalez and her father. She also leaves behind a host of friends and relatives. Services will be held privately.
