Miralia Torres

April 19, 1937 — April 13, 2021

Miralia Torres, 83, returned to the loving arms of the Lord at Apple Rehab Shelton Lakes Nursing Home, Shelton, CT. She was born in Cabrera, close by Samana in Dominican Republic to the late Rubi Santana and Maria Consuelo Acosta. She is the beloved wife of the late Octavio Torres, to whom she was married to for over 50 years. She moved to New York in the late 1950's. Miralia began her career in business administration in the Dominican Republic, continuing in New York. After sometime, she changed the path of her career to join her husband in the restaurant industry. Together they opened The Hollywood Restaurant in Manhattan, NY where she worked ardently in all aspects of the industry, from tending to the customers, cooking in the kitchen, and administrating the day-to-day business. Later they opened another restaurant in the Dominican Republic called De Colores. Aside from the long hours that she worked she was a devout Catholic who made the time to be actively involved in both St. Theresa's and Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Churches in Queens, NY. She was a member of the Cursillo de Cristiandad Movement. Miralia was an incredibly caring, happy, and fun-loving person with an infectious laugh. She was a very dedicated worker, putting in long hours seven days a week. She was passionate about what she did and put love into everything she did. Miralia leaves behind to cherish her memory her adoring daughter Consuelo Ocasio and her husband Manny, her loving granddaughter Emily Jasmine Ocasio Torres and her precious great grandson Mason Argentino Ocasio.
