Alfonsina De Jesus Barrientos

July 30, 1936 – June 28, 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Alfonsina De Jesus Barrientos, who departed this life on June 30, 2025, at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut. She was 90 years old, born on July 30, 1936, in Guatemala City, daughter of the late Felix De Leon and the late Maria Antonia Barrientos.

In 1985, Alfonsina courageously moved from Guatemala to the United States, where she began a new chapter that would be marked by determination, strength, faith, and endless love for her family and community. On June, 2016 Alfonsina become a USA proud citizen of this blessed nation. A deeply devoted Christian, she lived her faith boldly—often visiting those incarcerated and sick to share messages of hope, redemption, and the love of Christ.

A woman of many talents, Alfonsina was a gifted seamstress whose hands crafted beauty, from elegant garments to her signature hats. She once opened a mini food store from home to make an extra living, adding yet another vibrant color to the canvas of her life. Her love for flowers and plants reflected the beauty she nurtured in everything around her.

Alfonsina’s adventurous spirit once took her to Israel—a journey that touched her soul deeply and inspired a lifelong desire to return. Yet, above all, her greatest joy and devotion were her grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure.

She is survived by her four loving daughters: Sandra Luz Lanuza Peralta, Sonia Patricia Lanuza Burgos, Sonia Maria Lanuza Marroquin and Laura Susana Lanuza Martello. Four sons in-law, Fourteen grandchildren; Thirty great-grandchildren; and Two great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through every life she touched with kindness, wisdom, and grace.

Alfonsina’s life was a reflection of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and unconditional love. Though she is no longer with us in the flesh, the imprint of her spirit will forever bloom in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Visitation and Services Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Iglesia Misionera El Olivar, located at 510 Summit Street, Bridgeport, CT, beginning at 5:00 PM and continuing through the end of the service.

Final disposition will take place the following morning, Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM with all guests asked to meet directly at Mt. Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
