Alicia Lopez, age 82, returned to the Loving arms of the Lord on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at St. Joseph's Center, Trumbull. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Alicia was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico; daughter of the late Nicolas Samillano and mother Santa Diaz, prior to relocating to the Bridgeport area many years ago. She is the loving mother of Francisco Antonio Lopez and Laura Lopez; the caring grandmother of Paul Medina, Javier Medina, Noellle Ariana Lopez, Megan Vazquez, Francisco A. Lopez, III., Noah Anderson and Sebastian Lopez; and the adoring great grandmother of Mackenzie Lopez-Santiago. She was a kind soul, who never hesitated to give away her last dollar or any of her possessions to anyone in need. Her kindness in a world so harsh was a breath of fresh air and although not found often, it was a beautiful spirit to witness. Her family mourns her loss yet are grateful for having been blessed with her spirit. Alicia is survived by her mother Santa Diaz, her sisters Marta Santiago, Milagro Cuervas and Judy Santa Cruz as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Francisco Lopez, brother Rafael Diaz and her sister Rosie Santiago.
Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz 426 E. Washington Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06608.
