Angelico Quiles Jr.

December 22, 1953 – August 20, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Angelico Quiles Jr. (Papo), who left this world on August 20, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 22, 1953, in Bridgeport, CT, Angelico was the son of the late Maria and Angelico Quiles Sr. Besides his parents, Angelico was predeceased by his brother Milton Quiles.

Angelico was a man of simple needs but abundant love, who touched many lives through his unwavering faith, devotion to family, and gentle spirit. He lived his life with quiet strength and humility. He always prioritized the happiness and well-being of his beloved wife, Maria D. Quiles, whom he married 28 years ago. His commitment to God, his church, and his family was the cornerstone of his life. A dedicated member of the Church of Christ for over 50 years, Angelico was a constant presence, singing joyfully during services and sharing his gift of music by playing the guitar as part of the praise and worship team.

Family was at the heart of everything Angelico did. He took great joy in simple pleasures—enjoying movies, indulging in some great ice cream, and exploring new places with his loved ones. His travels included memorable trips to Puerto Rico, Washington, and various cruises, as well as missionary journeys to South Africa and Guatemala, where he shared his faith and love for God with others. Angelico was also a handyman, a gifted Bible teacher, dedicated to imparting the Word of God to those around him. In 2018, he retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after 37 years of service, during which he contributed to numerous projects and formed lifelong friendships.

Angelico leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria D. Quiles, and his children: Nathaniel (Abigail) Quiles, Gabriel (Leticia M.) Quiles, and Michael (Amy) Quiles. His grandchildren, Tatyana Quiles, Noah N. Quiles, Micah A. Quiles, and Ezra J. Quiles, will forever hold dear the memories of their beloved grandfather.

Angelico was also a cherished brother to Evelyn Quiles-Quesada (Richard) and a beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many. The loving family he gained through marriage, Rosemary (Marcos) Perez-Soto and Jesus J. "JJ" (Martina Errigo) Perez and their children Ariela F. Perez, Elena Perez, Joshua Perez, Jahvon Soto, and Emiah Soto, whom he embraced as his own children and grandchildren.

The family invites all who knew and loved Angelico to attend calling hours on Monday, August 26, 2024, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of Christ, 240 Hamilton Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery at approximately 1:45 PM.

In his simple yet profound way, Angelico Quiles lived a life that was a testament to faith, love, and humility. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
