Angelina Velez

August 27, 1928 — August 27, 2020

Angelina Velez, age 92, beloved daughter of the late Ernesto Velez and the late Herminia Sepulveda passed away into the peaceful rest of the Lord on August 27, 2020 in Cambridge Manor, Fairfield, CT; Angelina was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico but had relocated to the Bridgeport area many years ago. Angelina was a woman who had faith and was active in her church St. Peter's for over 25 years. A small woman in stature but a large presence wherever she went. Abuelita as many graciously called her, was a gem everyone appreciated simply by seeing her as she pretty much took care of herself in almost everything even at her current age she was extremely independent. Angelina was a feisty woman full of spunk full of energy and had no problems speaking her mind especially something she considered nonsense. There was a difference with Abuelita, a good debate she never walked away from, but none of it was ever done without understanding that the respect to each and every one is never to be violated. A good debate does not entail talking down to someone and she appreciated everyone's point of view, although she didn't agree and she would share why. (so many today could learn from such example). When Angelina was around, you couldn't miss her when she was there but at the same time, when she wasn't, everyone wondered where she was. Abuelita loved her family, loved not only her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her two great great grandchildren, but the relationship she had with each and everyone of them was important to her. She simply looked forward to being with them, seeing what they had done and what they had accomplished, and her glow was clearly relevant when she would hear and see everything they were doing or had done and her joy was easily seen also, when seeing each milestone they would reach. She will never be replaced, and without a doubt each child, grandchild, great grandchild and great great grandchild will know they had been blessed with their Abuelita and ultimately because of her, this beautiful woman, this precious soul, this small lady is where they all began and without her, they would of never been. Having been with her before her passing has granted them the blessing of knowing this amazing woman. As years passed, each family event & each moment, was precious, was cherished and today they know that the blessing began with her providing and doing for them and her passing allows them the blessing of knowing that they gave to her, provided for her but above all loved her which is something she never felt without! LOVE! She leaves to cherish her memory her son Angel L. Colon and his spouse Ana Colon and her daughter Olinda Colon; her grandchildren Willie Crespo and his spouse Dianalit, Diana Planas and her spouse Herminio Jr., Gisela Bonet and her spouse Jose, Jose Morales, Luis Colon, Raquel Colon, Samantha Colon, and Maryanne Batista; her great grandchildren Willie, William Ricardo, Alex, Manuel Daniel T.J. , Nisel and J. B.; her great great grandchildren William Jose and Sammy Richmond Crespo; and lets not fail to mention the her Pastor and Priest of St. Peter's Church which she appreciated and loved so much Father John J. Gomez; and just a host of other relatives and friends whom will sorely miss her. Friends are invited DIRECTLY at the St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church where you will have time to greet the family and share some memories on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, beginning at 10:00 A.M. and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place beginning at 11:00 A.M.
