Antonia Miranda

August 11, 1930 — January 28, 2024

Bridgeport

Antonia Miranda departed our presence on January 28, 2024, at the remarkable age of 93, in Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT.  Born on the sunny day of August 11, 1930, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she later journeyed to the Mainland, eventually making her home among family in Bridgeport then later in Norwalk. Antonia, a true luminary of love and kindness, dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker and especially cherished her role as the beloved matriarch to her grandchildren.  With a heart as big as the sky, her commitment to their happiness was her defining trait. Everyone who crossed paths with Antonia felt the warmth of her empathetic spirit. As the years ticked by, Antonia embraced the idea that our “filters” might wear thin with age. She lived with a refreshing honesty, sometimes sharing truths that were supposed to stay hidden in the mysterious realms of the mind. Never one to hurt a soul, her candid moments sometimes left us with a mix of surprise and chuckles.  Among the treasures of memories, we recall Antonia in her garden, her hands creating beauty in the earth. Here, she found peace and joy, nurturing her plants with the same love she gave to her family. This garden was a living symbol of her patience, resilience, and love for life's simple joys. When not tending to her blooms or her family, Antonia delighted in a good game of cards or dominoes. These were times filled with laughter and unforgettable moments. Antonia’s memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family and friends, a lasting tribute to a life beautifully lived.

She leaves behind her beloved daughters: Carmen (Milton Martinez), Genoveva Miranda-Torres, and Maria (Virgilio Rosa). her grandchildren who she adored: Daisy, Milton, Pamela, Josie, Christina, Benjamin Jr., Kenny Jr., Christopher, Lacey, Jack Jr., Eliza, Shana and Inez and David, along with countless great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, Antonia is survived by her siblings: Susana, Carmen Maria, Juana, Casiana, Baltolo, Daniel, Juan, and Domingo, as well as a host of other relatives and many friends who will dearly miss her.

Antonia loved spending time with her family and looked forward to moments where she shared time with her siblings and their families alike.  Her presence brightened family gatherings where stories of yesteryears created wonderful memories for our future years.
