Bridgeport

Antonio Valdez, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on August 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, in St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT. He was born on December 3, 1930, in Caguas, Puerto Rico but relocated to the mainland United States where he had resided since.

Antonio dedicated many years of his life to the General Electric Company where he worked as a Plater. He approached his career with dedication and professionalism. His hard work and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Outside of work, Antonio had a zest for life that was truly inspiring. He had a love for music which brought him immense joy. The sound of music would ignite his spirit, especially when it came to the music from his homeland of Puerto Rico such as Plena, "Musica Jibara" and some nationally recognized songs like "en Mi Viejo San Juan" and the National Anthem of Puerto Rico.  Hearing such would effortlessly sway him to the rhythm with a smile on his face. Antonio's love for music became a cherished memory shared with family and friends at countless gatherings.

Those who knew Antonio will remember him as a caring and warm individual. He had a warm sense of humor that could light up any room. His selfless nature extended beyond his immediate family. Antonio was always there to lend a helping hand or provide words of comfort to those in need. He embraced everyone with open arms, making them feel loved, welcomed, and appreciated.

His faith held a special place in Antonio's heart. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary's Parish in Bridgeport for many, many years.   When the pandemic restrictions began, he looked forward to the moment to rejoining others in the parish in Mass. He joined the Blessed Sacrament Parish Family during the pandemic as soon as the restrictions allowed them to rejoin with the proper precautions.  His unwavering devotion was a genuine example for others that will be a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of witnessing his strong spiritual beliefs.

In his free time, Antonio enjoyed going for long walks. Whether it was exploring nature or strolling through the neighborhood, these moments provided him with solace and tranquility. Walking allowed him to embrace the beauty of the world around him.

Antonio's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his family. He was a loving and devoted father to his son, Jose A Valdez and his wife Anita.  his daughters, Aileen Doyle and her husband Michael, Maria Alcantara and her husband Rogelio, Carmen Valdez and her husband Hector Quiñonez, Magdalena Ortiz and her husband Jorge, and Iris Sosa and her husband Jose. They were the center of his universe, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Antonio's love extended to his grandchildren and many great-grandchildren as well.
