Asela Balado Perez

Asela Balado Perez, aged 62, of Bridgeport, CT, found her peaceful rest on April 17, 2024, at St. Vincent's Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Cuba, the cherished daughter of the late Luis Balado and Emelia Ramirez, Asela ventured to the United States as a young girl, carrying with her an enduring longing to one day revisit her homeland. Despite the miles, her heart remained anchored in her native soil.

Asela was the beloved matriarch to her family which included her husband Angel Perez who she married over 39 years ago. Her daughters Karina Perez (Gilberto), Vanessa Torres (Jose Maldonado), and stepson Angie Perez. She is also the sister to Lucia Monk (Garry Monk, Sr.) and Roberto Balado (Danielle). Her legacy continued through her grandchildren—Nova London Perez, Xiomara Yzabelle Maldonado, Antonio Giovanni Cordero III, Samantha Perez—and reached even further into the lives of her nieces and nephews, Nisaa Williams, Melissa Vivo, Taylor Balado, Roberto Luis Balado, Anthony Guzman, Destiny Guzman, Gianna DiBello, Mia DiBello, Jennifer Guzman, Luis Guzman, Uriah Monk, Garry Monk II, and Adalynn Monk.

Known for her spirited Sunday dinners, Asela was a woman of conviction, never shying away from expressing her beliefs—even those hard for others to hear. Her expressions of love were profound and enveloping, leaving no doubt of her genuine care and the impact of her presence. Her career as a phlebotomist spanned many years, marked by dedication and hard work. An avid shopper, Asela never missed a chance to attend to her hair or nails, always presenting herself with grace and style.

Her wisdom, gleaned from a lifetime of rich experiences, made her a confidant and advisor to many. Asela's home was a haven, always open to anyone facing challenges or needing a sympathetic ear.

Her life will be celebrated and remembered at a viewing to be held at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. Her final disposition will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Mt. Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
