With deep sorrow and hearts full of memories, we announce the passing of Benjamin “Benji” Febus, who unexpectedly died in the comfort of his home in Milford, Connecticut, on August 9, 2026. Benji was born on May 18, 1955, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, a place that forever colored his spirit with warmth, kindness, and a genuine love for family.

Those who knew Benji will remember him first for his giving nature and the generous ways he shared his time with others. He believed in the beauty of selflessness and always found ways to place the needs of loved ones and friends before his own. In both word and deed, Benji demonstrated the power of compassion, leaving indelible marks on the lives he touched.  He was a loyal fan of the New York Mets, a gardener who also tried his luck at scratch off tickets.  Benji was an accomplished domino champion as well as a singer and musician.  He was an active member of his community who was always willing to walk his neighbors dogs and tend to the gardens.

Benji’s family was the heart of his world. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Luz Aida Padin Morales, whose love and companionship brought him countless joys. He will be warmly remembered by his step-sons, Jose Deida, Miguelito Deida (Patricia), and Wilfredo Valentin, as well as his step-daughter, Margo Suazo (Daniel) and his cherished 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, Beloved nephew Tony Gonzalez and his God Daughter Dionese Collazo. Each holds precious memories of Benji’s encouragement, laughter, and the countless lessons learned in his presence.

His siblings, Leticia Febus, Celia Febus, Emma Bernard, Lillian Bernard, Manuel Bernard and Ernesto Bernard will be left to cherish their childhood memories. There are also those whose bonds with Benji were forged through friendship and shared experiences—especially his dear friend Royce Peña and his wife Altagracia Peña.

The family honors the memory of Benji’s late parents, Pablo Febus and Catalina Rodriguez, whose care shaped the man Benji became and whose love guided him throughout his days as well as his siblings and his dogs Princess and Bella.

A memorial service to celebrate Benjamin Febus’s life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and honor a life defined by generosity, love, and the enduring power of connection.

As we bid farewell to Benji, we hold close to our hearts the kindness he shared and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Though gone from our sight, he will remain eternally present in the stories, laughter, and cherished memories that bind us together.
