Carlos A. Serrano-Rios, a dependable retired security officer and beloved jokester, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Born on July 13, 1945, in the picturesque campo of Don Alonso Utuado, Puerto Rico, Carlos made significant memories and heartfelt connections during his 80 years of life.

At the tender age of 17, Carlos made the courageous decision to move to the mainland, setting the stage for a remarkable journey filled with laughter and dedication. He embraced his roles as both a protector in his profession and a loving family man at home. Carlos was a vibrant soul, known for his infectious humor that brought joy and light to those around him.

A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Carlos is survived by his cherished children, Tania Serrano (Brooklyn), Carlos Serrano Jr. and Edgar Serrano (Annette) as well as two grandchildren Melissa Serrano and Ethan Serrano. They carry forward his spirit and warmth, forever honored by the lessons of love and laughter. The recent loss of his beloved wife, Rosaura Serrano, who departed just last month, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage with, has left an irreplaceable void in their lives. Together, they shared a bond that weathered life's storms, creating beautiful memories that will be treasured eternally.  They are now reunited forever. 

Carlos had an array of interests that reflected his vibrant personality. He was an avid participant in family gatherings, especially during the holidays, where he cherished the company of loved ones at the table. His fondness for playing dominoes led to many friendly competitions that were often filled with jokes and laughter. An enthusiastic TV viewer, he enjoyed engaging with the captivating courtroom antics in shows like Caso Cerrado, and he held a particular fondness for Steven Seagal movies, often sharing his opinions with great enthusiasm.

He is predeceased by his loving parents Francisco Serrano and Serafina Serrano and his siblings Francisco Serrano Jr., Minerva Candelaria, Lillian Candelaria, Adelina Serrano, Gloria Serrano, Antonio Serrano, and Olga Serrano. He is survived by his sister Carmen Kohler and brother Benedito Serrano as well as many nieces and nephews.

In celebration of Carlos's life, family and friends are invited to join together for a Viewing on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave, Bridgeport, CT. Following the viewing, a Burial service will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at 1:30 PM.

Though Carlos may have departed this world, his legacy of laughter, love, and unyielding spirit will forever resonate within the hearts of all who knew him. As we remember Carlos A. Serrano-Rios, let us carry forward the joy he spread and the love he shared, making sure his spirit lives on through our stories and memories.
