In Loving Memory of Carmen Maria Alicea

January 9, 1940 - February 10, 2024

Carmen Maria Alicea was an extraordinary soul whose nurturing spirit touched the lives of many. It is with heavy hearts that we announce her passing on February 10, 2024. She was born on January 9, 1940, in the picturesque town of Camuy, Puerto Rico. Carmen later made her home in Bridgeport, Connecticut where she grew into an exceptional woman known for her love of family, cooking, Spanish music, dancing, playing dominos, and her novelas.

Carmen's life was a testament to love and warmth, leaving cherished memories for all who had the joy of knowing her. Carmen's culinary skills were unmatched, and she took immense joy in bringing together family and friends, making her home a haven of happiness filled with laughter and the enticing aroma of her lovingly prepared dishes.  Her infectious laughter and fondness for Dominoes was more than a game; it was a means to strengthen bonds and share stories, weaving a fabric of unity that defines her legacy.

Although we mourn the loss of Carmen, we find solace in knowing that she is reunited with her loving mother, Mercedes Tosado Alicea, father, Carmelo Alicea, son, Ramon A. Nieves, daughter-in-law Lillian Nieves, daughter-in-law Lisa Nieves in heaven. Carmen's heart, resilience, and love have left an indelible mark on the lives of her cherished children: Norma Iris Reyes and her husband, Wilfredo Reyes; Aurea E. Santiago and her husband, Juan Jose Santiago; Miguel A. Nieves, and Zoraida Nieves.

Carmen's vibrant spirit lives on through her 14 adoring grandchildren: Rosie Moreno, Eddie Moreno, Lissette Moreno, Kelsie Carrion, Crystal Carrion, Raymond Nieves Jr., Raoul Nieves, Juan Jose Santiago Jr., Yvette Santiago, Jennifer Jennings, Miguel A. Nieves Jr., Melissa Nieves, Jose A. Cruz Jr., and David A.Cruz. Their memories of her encompass the laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love she shared.

Carmen's legacy of love and care extends even further with 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Through each generation, her impact reverberates, reminding us of the remarkable family she helped nurture and build.
