Carmen Madeline Carrillo

February 8, 1950 — October 5, 2023

Bridgeport

Carmen Madeline Carrillo, a beloved Lifelong resident of the Bridgeport community, has passed away at the age of 73. Carmen dedicated her life to serving God and his children She found great joy in educating and nurturing preschool aged children. Her unwavering commitment to her work was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Born on February 8th, 1950, in Bridgeport, CT, Carmen was raised by her loving parents Saturnino Carrillo and Eloisa Carrillo. From a young age, Carmen exhibited a passion for learning and a deep sense of compassion for people. She had attended St. Mary's Parish from an early age and found herself wanting to learn more about God and to thus embrace more of her relationship with God.  After spending some time committed to serving God she found herself returning back to Bridgeport where she focused her energy on Educating God's Children through her pursuit of her degree in Early childhood education, and after receiving her degree from Sacred Heart University in 1992 she started that journey.

Carmen's impact as an educator cannot be overstated. She poured her heart into providing the children under her care with the best possible education and nurturing environment. Her dedication extended beyond the classroom as she continuously sought opportunities to advance her knowledge and improve her teaching methods. Carmen's commitment to excellence earned her the position of Head Teacher at the daycare where she worked—a proud accomplishment she cherished deeply. The center where Carmen taught meant the world to her, and all of the people she worked alongside. They became her second Family.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Carmen enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Her home and garden meant the world to her. Carmen was a fantastic cook and enjoyed hosting others. One of her many ways she showed love. She was often helped in her garden by her great nephew Jason Jacob which she greatly appreciated. She had an undeniable talent for shopping and possessed a keen eye for catching bargains. In her younger years Carmen, and her god daughter Demi also enjoyed visiting museums, attending plays, as well as anything the local community had to offer. Carmen found joy in the little things —a testament to her optimistic outlook on life.

Our hearts are heavy with grief, yet we find solace in remembering the remarkable woman that she was—her unwavering faith in God and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, children, and community. Carmen leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication and compassion.

She is survived by her brother Harry Saturnino Carrillo, her god-daughter and (BFF) Demi Carrillo, her nephews Christopher and Jason Carrillo, her great-nephew Jason Jacob Carrillo, and her great-nieces Armani & Christiana Carrillo. Carmen's passing has sparked an immeasurable void in their lives—a void that can only be filled with cherished memories of the remarkable woman she was.
