Carmen M. Perez Guadalupe, born May 23, 1953, in Dorado, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Laureano Perez and the late Jesusa Guadalupe.
Carmen was an extraordinary cook whose heart was fully expressed through her kitchen. She mastered the flavors of Puerto Rican cuisine and its cherished delicacies, generously sharing her meals with anyone who crossed her path. To be welcomed into Carmen’s home was to experience comfort, warmth, and love—where conversations flowed freely, guards were lowered, and every plate carried a touch of her affection.
Her warm and inviting spirit made people feel at ease, as if they were family from the moment they arrived. Carmen found joy in watching endless novelas and savoring a good meal, especially at her favorite spot, the Coquito Restaurant in Bridgeport—simple pleasures that brought her great happiness.
She is survived by her loving children, Veronica Nieves, Alfredo Rodriguez (Nerissa), and Jose Nieves (Aldina Cabbleira); her cherished grandchildren, Daysha, Alexis, and Jose Jr and Nina; and her beloved great-grandchildren De’Lena and Adrien the IV. She also leaves behind her siblings, Migdalia Perez, Maria Perez, Jesus M. Perez, Delia Perez, Benita Perez, Natividad Morales, and Enrique Perez, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will deeply miss her presence and loving spirit.
Viewing will take place on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Luz de Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM, after which Carmen will proceed to Lakeview Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
Carmen’s legacy lives on in the meals she shared, the love she gave freely, and the countless hearts she touched.
