Christoforos “Chris” Kokolakis, 78, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025 in Norwalk Hospital. Born on July 29, 1946, in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, he was the beloved son of the late George Kokolakis and Theonimfi Ktistaki.
He came to the United States as a young man, bringing with him the flavors and warmth of his homeland. A talented chef by profession, he delighted countless patrons at a variety of well-known eateries, earning a reputation not only for dishes but for the laughter he stirred. Though he mastered every recipe he touched, his true joy lay in the smiles and stories he shared with those around him.
An avid gardener, Chris took pride in nurturing every bloom and vegetable patch. He and his lifelong friend George spent many leisurely afternoons over coffee, sharing jokes, card games, and memories that stretched long into the day. His love of cards—hosted at numerous legendary card nights—and occasional trips to the casino reflected his playful spirit and zest for life.
Family was his greatest treasure. He is survived by his daughters Ramona (Richard) Biondi, Christina Brown, Kristy Kokolakis and fiance Dimitrios Petridis and son-in-law Andy Brown. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael Anderson, Jr., Ashley Brown, Christopher Brown, Nicolette Pedraza, Kerryanna Pedraza, Daniel Murphy, Jr., Samantha Murphy, Alexandra (Brian) Curry, and Emily Murphy; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marianna (John) Simiakakis. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kerry Pedraza and his parents and two brothers. He leaves behind his nephews and nieces in Greece and an endless community of friends who will dearly miss his generous heart and quick wit.
A private final disposition will be held. The family finds comfort in knowing Chris’s laughter, kindness, and culinary gifts will live on in every story shared and every meal prepared in his honor.
