It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Maldonado, who left us on June 23, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on July 21, 1951, in New York, NY, Daniel was a proud Puerto Rican and an unforgettable presence in the lives of those who knew him.
Daniel faced many challenges throughout his life, including living with disabilities, but he never let that define him. As a true New Yorker, he enjoyed playing handball and routing for the New York Yankees. He was an avid domino player and salsa dancer. He longed to live out the rest of his life in Puerto Rico.
Daniel was a loving father to his children, Anthony, Danielle, Amanda, Marisol, Janell, and Damaris, his 12 grandchildren, and his family will forever cherish the memories of the time spent with him. He also leaves behind his siblings Sonia, Carmen and Ramon. He was deeply loved, and his spirit will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his loving mother Aurea Fuentes.
Friends and family are invited to join us in celebrating Daniel's life. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. We invite everyone who knew him to come together for a gathering filled with stories, laughter, and remembrance-a reflection of the warmth and joy that Daniel brought to our lives
Rest in peace, Daniel. You will always be in our hearts.
