Eduardo Cubero

March 6, 1927 — January 8, 2024

Eduardo Cubero, a loving and admirable man of God, a man, and a dedicated employee, has peacefully departed from this world on January 8, 2024. He was born on March 6, 1927, in the beautiful town of Camuy, Puerto Rico. Eduardo's life was filled with cherished memories, significant accomplishments, and an unwavering love for his family and passions.

Eduardo began his career at prestigious Barnum Hotel where he wholeheartedly dedicated himself for many years. Later on, he embarked on a new journey and joined Exmet Cooperation, leaving behind an indelible mark in the hearts of his colleagues. Eduardo's commitment to his work spanned an impressive three decades before he decided to retire.

After retiring, Eduardo's true joy came from spending quality time with his beloved wife. Together they created wonderful memories while traveling to Puerto Rico. Eduardo had a green thumb and relished in the beauty of gardening and planting flowers in his yard during the blissful summer months. Basking in the warm sunshine brought him immense pleasure. As an avid baseball fan, Eduardo passionately cheered for the New York Mets. Even at the age of 96, he could recount the team lineup, name the pitchers, and recall each score with remarkable clarity. He attended his first and second Mets games in person in 1988 and 2013, cheering "Let's go Mets!" with enthusiasm.

Eduardo's life will be remembered not only for his remarkable professional achievements but also for his exuberant personality. His gentle nature and willingness to lend a helping hand were evident to all who knew him. His presence brought comfort and support to those going through challenging times.

To celebrate Eduardo's life and bid him farewell with love and respect, services will be held at Funeraria Luz De Paz located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608 on January 11, 2024. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:45 PM. Following the visitation, a Mass will be held in his honor at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, situated at 25 Sherman St., Bridgeport, CT 06608 at 1:00 PM. Eduardo will be laid to rest at Mt. Grove Cemetery on North Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604 at 2:15 PM.

Eduardo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ana Cubero. He adored calling her Annie. Their union blessed them with three cherished children: Eric Cubero (Aida), Melvin Cubero (Zoradia), and Marlin Speranza (Pasquale). Eduardo's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Jimmy Galindez, Natasha Arroyo (Miguel), Rene Cubero (Sophia), Emily Kish (Robert), Erika Powell (Donovan), and Shayna Safford. His great-grandchildren Donovan Powel, Tyler Powell, Mason Powell, Javon Galindez, and Jeremiah Galindez, Elijah Arroyo, Jacob Arroyo, Mila Arroyo, Charlie Kish will forever cherish their memories with their beloved great-grandfather. As well as a special thank you to Haydee Gonzalez for the excellent care and unconditional love she has given Eduardo as his caretaker.

In addition to his immediate family, Eduardo held a special place in the hearts of his sister Angela Cubero and brothers Ramon Cubero, Gilberto Cubero, and Bienvenida Cubero and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Agustin Cubero Mangual and mother Emilia Mangual Lucena, leaving behind many fond memories with his loving parents.

Eduardo Cubero's departure from this world leaves an immense void in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten. We find solace in the knowledge that Eduardo's spirit lives on through the memories he created and the love he shared with all of us.

May Eduardo rest in eternal peace, forever embraced by the warmth of the sun he loved so much, as he watches over his beloved New York Mets from above.
