With profound sadness, yet with gratitude for a life beautifully lived, the family of Elsie I. Ruiz announces her peaceful passing on May 29, 2026, at her home in Torrington, Connecticut, while surrounded by the love of her devoted family. She was 50 years old.

Born on January 12, 1976, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, to Gilberto Ocasio and Mildred Garcia. Elsie carried with her throughout her life the warmth, strength, and deep sense of family that are so treasured in her homeland. She spent many years living in the Bridgeport area before relocating with her husband Jesus M. Ruiz to the scenic and peaceful surroundings of Torrington, where she found comfort in nature and the quiet beauty of everyday life.

Elsie was a woman whose talents seemed endless. She had a remarkable gift for baking and cooking, creating not only beautiful cakes but also breads, cannolis, and countless other treats that brought joy to family gatherings and celebrations. Her artistic abilities extended far beyond the kitchen. Whether through arts and crafts, decorating, or creating something beautiful with her hands, Elsie had an eye for detail and a talent for transforming ordinary moments into cherished memories.

More important than her many talents was her generous heart. Elsie was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or provide comfort to someone in need. She found happiness in giving to others and took great pride in caring for those she loved. Her kindness, compassion, and selfless nature touched many lives and left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Elsie was attending the Iglesia Ebenezer Piedra de Esperanza in Torrington, Connecticut, where she found spiritual strength, fellowship, and purpose. Her faith carried her through life's challenges and served as a source of inspiration to those around her.

Her Memory will be treasured by her beloved husband, Jesus M. Ruiz, whose unwavering devotion and love never faltered throughout their 15 year relationship. Through every challenge and every difficult moment, he remained faithfully by her side, providing strength, comfort, and companionship.

She also leaves behind her loving children, Francis Sanchez, Isaac Sanchez, and Gilbert Rivera; six beautiful Grandchildren; her dear siblings, Yarelis Rivera and Luis Rivera; along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory and the countless ways she enriched their lives.

Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those blessed to know her. Her life was a testament to faith, family, kindness, and perseverance, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who loved her.

A Memorial Service celebrating Elsie's life will be held at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06608, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Final disposition will be held at the convenience of her family.
