Eugenio C. Gonzalez

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenio C. Gonzalez, affectionately known as Jimmy, who left this world on June 2, 2025, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, at the age of 88. Born on July 13, 1936, in Quebradilla, Puerto Rico, Jimmy lived a life marked by gentle strength, quiet grace, and an unwavering appreciation for the simple joys that life had to offer.

Jimmy dedicated much of his professional life to the role of a plater at the Mahle Company, where his steady hands and meticulous work ethic made a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike. Known for his easy-going, laid-back demeanor, he brought a sense of calm to those around him, often serving as a quiet cornerstone of support and kindness. His reserved nature did not diminish the warmth he exuded; instead, he cultivated a space where others felt comfortable and valued.

In his personal life, Jimmy found joy in the hobbies that filled his days with laughter and camaraderie. He delighted in the thrill of fishing, casting his line into serene waters with hope and patience, often sharing stories of his adventures with a twinkle in his eye. Bingo nights were a cherished pastime, where the clatter of chips and shouts of victory brought together family and friends in joyous celebration. His fondness for CB radios further reflected his desire to connect with others, as he navigated the airwaves, forming friendships through shared communication and laughter.

Jimmy leaves behind his beloved wife Adalgelia Gonzalez (Ada), his daughter Ivy Herrera, son-in-law, Guillermo Herrera, grandchildren Jack and Jayleen Herrera, numerous nieces and nephews including Maria Dail, Janette Lopez and Angel Molina. He is predeceased by his son Jimmy Gonzalez and sisters Alvida Paredes, Adela Robles, Catalina Cordero and Ana Molina.

As we remember Jimmy, we honor a man who was thankful for all he had—a gentle soul who inspired others simply by being himself. His personality shone brightest in the moments he shared with those he loved, whether it was through a soft word of encouragement or a shared smile. He embraced life’s quiet moments, teaching those around him to appreciate the beauty found within them.

A viewing will be held for Jimmy on June 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT, where family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share cherished memories of a life well-lived.

Though he has departed from this earth, Jimmy leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and gratitude. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him. May he rest in peace, forever fishing in the tranquil waters of eternity.
