Listen to Obituary

Eusebio Rivera Jr. (Junior), a beloved figure who touched the hearts of many, peacefully departed this life while in the loving arms of his daughter on September 10, 2025 in the comfort of his home in Bridgeport, CT. He was surrounded by his cherished family, leaving behind a legacy rich in love, support, and unwavering guidance.

Born on January 8, 1952 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Junior was a jack of all trades with knowledge in construction, electrical work, plumbing and any other handy work that needed to be done in the house.  He was a diligent and dedicated maintenance technician during his work career.  His strong work ethic and attention to detail were evident in all aspects of his life. He embodied the values of punctuality, generosity, and readiness to assist others, which earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Junior was a proud husband to Mayra I. Rosa, with whom he shared 48 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they nurtured a family filled with love and laughter. He is survived by his daughter, Karla Rivera-Torres and her husband Jonathan, as well as his son Michael Rivera. Junior found incredible joy in his role as a grandfather, doting on his grandsons Jayden and Elijah, and leaving precious memories that will last a lifetime.

Junior was also known for his passion for baseball and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees.  He played softball for many years for the Roberto Clemente Old Timers Softball League showcasing his skills as a pitcher in various different teams such as the Polluelos, Mel’s Boys. His contributions to the sport were recognized when he was recently inducted into the Bridgeport Latino Softball Hall of Fame for the Roberto Clemente Old Timers Softball League in Bridgeport. His love for the game was only rivaled by his commitment to maintaining his home and its grounds, which he tended with meticulous care and pride.

He also loved fish, though he didn’t catch them, he took great care of the ones that thrived in his well maintained fish tank.

Junior blossomed into a loving and attentive figure as he aged. He offered his family unsolicited advice that was delivered with love and concern, reminding them of his steadfast commitment to their well-being. He was strong-willed but equally generous, always the first to step in and lend a helping hand.  He had great respect and love for the Lord, entrusting his faith in him as his health declined.

Junior will be deeply missed by his sisters Gladys, Juanita, Matilde, and brothers Harry and Carlos. They, too, felt the impact of his love and generosity throughout their lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eusebio Rivera and Flora Barbosa, who instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication that he carried throughout his life, and his siblings Mary, Anibal, Nilda and Elvira.

A viewing will be held at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by his burial at Lakeview Cemetery at 11:30 AM.

Junior leaves behind not merely memories but a legacy of love, strength, and passion for life that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will remain a guiding force in the hearts of his family and friends.
