Frank Schrodl

Frank Schrodl, age 83, passed away on October 21, 2023, in Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. Born on October 24, 1939, in Budapest, Hungary, Frank led a life of commitment, hard work, and unwavering faith to his family and friends.

Frank was employed in the manufacturing industry back in Budapest before the situation in his country became unstable and he had to flee.   He managed to escape the situation and relocated to the United States after fighting for what he believed was the best route for the future of his country.  He realized later that he was part of what became known as a Group of Freedom Fighters.  Unfortunately, although he may have desired to return home, he could not, but his heart still cherished the love he had for his country.

Frank was a Self-employed sub-contractor for several local vendors. Frank honed his skills in carpet installation, leaving countless homes enriched with his craftsmanship. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of both clients and colleagues.

Outside of work, Frank was a man of few words but deep convictions. Reserved yet committed, he approached every endeavor individually. Frank was always there to lend a helping hand or offer words to whoever came his way. Living a tranquil life, he found solace in simplicity and valued life's little joys.

When Frank wasn't hard at work, he enjoyed indulging in a couple of hobbies throughout the years - playing softball and bowling. You could also find him enjoying a drink with friends at Mickeys, the Windmill Restaurant and Village Pub.  All the times brought him joy and allowed him to forge lasting friendships while engaging in friendly competition.

Frank leaves behind a grieving but grateful family who will forever hold him dear in their hearts. He is survived by Nettie Schrodl, his loving wife of Bridgeport; His children Elizabeth Patterson (Christopher), of South Rockwood, Michigan;  Gloria Salazar (Jesus), from Punta Gorda, Florida; Frank Schrodl, Jr., of  Monroe, CT; Oscar Colon, Bridgeport, CT, from Bridgeport, CT;  Dolores Ortiz from Jewett City, CT;  Victoria Colon, from Bridgeport, CT; and Luis A. Rodriguez,  (Edgar) from Shelton, CT. Some of his children were gained through marriage but Frank's commitment to them as his own was evident.

A visitation in honor of Frank will be held on October 28, 2023, at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT. The visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It is an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to come together to celebrate the life of this remarkable man.

In honoring Frank's memory, let us take solace in knowing that he has found eternal peace and that his spirit will live on through the memories we hold dear. Rest in peace, Frank.
