With deep honor and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Frida Guerrier Johnston, who entered eternal rest on January 28, 2026, at her residence in Bridgeport, Connecticut, at the age of 87.
Frida was born on August 9, 1938, in Haiti, the beloved daughter of the late Alfred Guerrier and Admise Francois Guerrier. A woman of small stature but great strength, she carried herself with a feisty spirit, unwavering resolve, and a heart that cared deeply for others.
She was the devoted wife of the late Alphonso Johnston, with whom she shared a life grounded in love and perseverance. Frida dedicated many years of her working life as a healthcare worker, a factory worker in the manufacturing industry, and housekeeping. She was known for her strong work ethic and dependability wherever she went.
Family was the center of Frida’s world. She was deeply committed to caring for not only her own children but also for the children of others, always making sure everyone felt protected, guided, and loved. She was known for speaking directly to family members when guidance was needed, always standing firm in her values and remaining consistent in her beliefs over time.
Frida was a faithful and devoted member of French Speaking Baptist Church, where her love for God and her church family was evident. Her generosity extended beyond material things—her doors and her heart were always open, and she gave selflessly to those around her.
She is survived by her loving children: Athena Ward, Shaneen Johnston-Hines (Leon), Josué Chevalier (Audrey), Samuel Chevalier (Nicole), Rebecca Chevalier, and Solomon Chevalier (who predeceased her).
She is also survived by her cherished sibling, Yroppe Deluce-Paulemond, as well as grandchildren, extended family members, church family, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.
