Hector J. Lopez Garcia, passed away on January 4, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. Born on March 19, 1962, in Medellín, Colombia to the late Rodolfo and Maria (Carlota Garcia) Lopez. Hector was a talented painter and home improvement specialist for over 30 years; he touched the lives of many with his artistic talents and dedication to transforming homes with meticulous creativity.
Throughout his career, Hector was his hard work and commitment to excellence which became a hallmark of his approach, earning him a reputation as an esteemed figure in his community. Not only was he a craftsman, but he also embodied the spirit of a family man, cherishing the moments spent with his loved ones above all else.
Hector was more than just a talented worker; he possessed a vibrant personality that endeared him to many. A natural jokester, he could light up a room with his humor and charisma. As a philanthropist, he generously supported those in need, especially his relatives, demonstrating his kind heart and commitment to family values. His love for life was evident in his hobbies—he was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed traveling and had a keen eye for fashion, always dressing impeccably.
Hector was preceded by his beloved wife, Maria L. Lopez, and is survived by his devoted partner, Liliana Idrobo. He leaves behind a legacy through his children and grandson: Hector A. Lopez, and his wife Maritsa, and Marisol Lopez and her life partner, Matheus Bezerra and the light of his life, his grandson, Maximus. He is the second youngest of 14 brothers and sisters, with 9 surviving siblings and numerous loving family members.
Hector's life will be celebrated with visitation services held at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport Connecticut. The first visitation will take place on January 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by another visitation on Friday, January 16, 2026, time to be determined. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately afterwards at St. Peter's Parish in Bridgeport, CT.
Family and friends are invited to a luncheon provided by the family following the funeral services at Vazzy’s 19th Hole in Fairfield, CT.
Hector J. Lopez Garcia will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of love, generosity, and creativity will continue to inspire those left behind.
