Ines Gouveia

Ines Gouveia, age 81, formerly of Bridgeport CT, has passed away into the peaceful rest of the Almighty God on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, in Bristol Hospital, with family by her side.  Ines was born in Madeira, a Portuguese island, in the town of Ribeira da Vaca where she resided until the young age of 25.  She married her husband, the late Eduardo Gouveia and together relocated to South Africa in 1966.  They resided in South Africa for 13 years, then together, now with children, once again relocated, this time to the United States where she has resided since.  Ines was employed for many years at the Dinan Memorial (Bridgeport Healthcare Center), then Bridgeport Manor, and then began her employment at the Jewish Home for the Elderly where she retired from after more than a decade.  Without a doubt a hard worker who, along with her husband, provided for their family throughout the years.  An avid gardener, she loved to have her hands in the soil. She adored planting seeds and watching her flowers grow. She took pride in her garden and tended to it with care. Her sense of humor and laugh will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Ines is survived by her children, Umberto Gouveia and his wife Justyna Rydza, Maria Padilla and her husband Victor, Teresa Gouveia, Lucy Stevens and her husband Jon.  Her grandchildren whom she adored, Michael Gouveia, Alyssa Gouveia, Joseph Klonis, Miranda Padilla, Nathan Stevens, Shawn Padilla and Sara Stevens.  Her siblings, Rosa DaSilva, and Antonio DaSilva as well as many other family and friends who today feel honored to have met her at some point in their lives, creating a memory which today is now a treasure.

In addition to her husband the late Eduardo Gouveia, she was preceded in death by her son the late Joao Gouveia, her siblings the late Maria DaSilva, the late Manual DaSilva, the late Joao DaSilva, the late Encarnacio DaSilva and the late Conceição DaSilva.

Friends are invited to attend calling hours to be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, beginning at 8:00 A.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the St Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church At 10:00 AM followed by interment in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT.
