Jorge Washington Arce

Jorge Washington Arce, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at the age of 87 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was born on July 26, 1938, in Putumayo, Ecuador, and spent a lifetime dedicated to his craft and family. 

Jorge was a talented and skilled tool maker, whose career spanned many years at Bridgeport Fitting before his well-deserved retirement. Known for his incredible discipline and superior work ethic, he began working at a very young age and carried that commitment into every aspect of his life. In addition to his work with Bridgeport Fitting, Jorge operated his own workshop from home, crafting and selling precision parts as a subcontractor, a testament to his dedication and expertise in the field.

A man of few words, Jorge was very serious but deeply passionate about his interests. He enjoyed music, particularly the sounds of Vicente Fernandez, Jorge Negrete, and Pedro Infante, and in his youth, he was known as lead singer in a tropical band. Throughout his life, he consistently strove to do his very best in all endeavors, a principle that resonated in both his professional and personal life.  He praised the Lord daily and worshipped him with fervor.

Jorge will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Raquel M. Arce, and his children and their spouses—Monica Landivar & husband, Milton, Yandri Arce & wife, Sally, Carlos Arce & wife, Morgan, Genoveva Arce, and Raquel Arce. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Jorge also shared cherished moments with his siblings, Gladys Martinez & husband, Miguel Angel Martinez (preceded in death), Wilson Arce & wife. Berta, and Cayetano Arce & wife, Marta, along with 8 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Felix, and his granddaughter, Jessica Robles as well as his parents Felix Arce and Alejandrina Ortega.

Viewing services for Jorge Washington Arce will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.  A mass will be celebrated at a later day with his ashes present.

As we remember Jorge, we celebrate a remarkable life characterized by hard work, family dedication, and a love for music, leaving behind a profound impact on all who had the honor of knowing him.
