Jose I. Arteaga

Jose Ignacio Arteaga, age 80, of Bridgeport has passed away into the peaceful presence of God on February 1, 2023, in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT.  Jose was born in Medellin, Colombia to the late Jose Ignacio Arteaga and the late Laura Rosa Jaramillo but had relocated to the local area in the late 70's where he resided for many years.  He is the beloved husband of Durley Arteaga of Bridgeport.  Jose was an avid fan of Soccer and for some time he was not only a player but a trainer in the sport.  There was not a season he would miss and enjoy great games with his family and friends. His energy and young spirit resonated everywhere he was whether with his family, friends or anywhere he went.  His favorite times were spent with those he loved dearly which were his family especially spoiling his grand and great grandchildren who today will cherish those memories as the treasures they are.

He is the loving dad of Wilder Arteaga, Walter Arteaga, Olga Phillips, Diana Arteaga, Jon Fredy Arteaga, Juan Gutierrez and Manuel Gutierrez.  He is also survived by his 20 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed by all.  

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. Until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
