Jose Cortes

Jose Cortes, born on March 7th, 1945 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, passed away on May 6th, 2023 in Bridgeport Hospital, in Bridgeport, CT. He was surrounded by loved ones during his final moments.

Jose was an accomplished landscaper. He had a passion for ensuring that the lawn and overall landscaping were stellar,  especially those of his daughters. He always brought joy to those that surrounded him with his sense of humor, love for family and generosity. His commitment to his family knew no bounds, and he found joy in the simplest things in life. Jose's love touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

In his free time, Jose was known to frequent the casino where he loved trying out his luck!  Some trips to the casino were great, then others, not so great, but the times spent with him on those trips are priceless moments in the hearts and minds of those who love him.

Jose is survived by his children Evelyn Gonzalez, Madeline Cortes, Jose V. Cortes, Jesenia DeJesus, Marisol Cortes, and Giovanni Cortes. He also leaves behind his sister Gladys Cortes along with fifteen grandchildren and nine grand-great-grandchildren whom he held dearest to his heart.

Those who preceded him in death include his father Gervacio Cortes and his mother Nicolasa Lopez Cortes.

His memory will be honored during a visitation ceremony held at Funeraria Luz De Paz located at 426 E Washington Ave., Bridgeport CT, on May 9th from 4 pm to 6 pm.

Final disposition will take place in the Remanso de Paz in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico.

We celebrate the life of Jose Cortes and are grateful for the happiness he brought into our world during his time with us. May he rest in peace knowing that he had an everlasting impact on those who knew him best.
