Jose M. Gerena

Jose M. Gerena, age  76, passed away on December 30, 2023, at home in Naugatuck, CT. Born on August 31, 1947, in Lares, Puerto Rico, Jose lived a fulfilling life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to his friends and family.

Known for his caring and loving nature, Jose touched the lives of those around him with his warm personality. He had an extraordinary talent for cooking and was often the life of the party at various events ensuring that everyone was having a great time was a trait that became his hallmark.

While he had a low-key nature in many aspects of life, Jose enjoyed spending time at various social spots throughout the city. The camaraderie of friends and engaging pool games were some of his fondest memories. Jose will always be remembered as someone who brought joy and happiness whenever he went out, wherever he went. His vibrant spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jose is survived by his devoted son Jose O. Gerena (Esmeralda) and his caring daughters Lydia Rodriguez (Juan), Maria Gerena, Ruth Rodriguez (Miguel), & Mariluz Gerena (Anthony Ramos). He leaves behind a legacy of love and joy through his eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Jose N. Gerena.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember the beautiful memories we shared with Jose  & celebrate his life and the good moments that touched the hearts of many. 

The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608, a Funeral Service will take place at 12:30 PM @ the funeral home followed by interment in the Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley Street, where he will be laid to rest.
