Jose A. Pedraza

Jose A. Pedraza, born August 20, 1954, in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, completed his earthly journey on July 31, 2026, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His nearly 72 years on this earth were a vivid testimony to the richness of family bond, infectious laughter, and the quiet mastery of humble passions.

Jose’s life began in the vibrant hills of Aguas Buenas, where the rhythms of Puerto Rican life shaped a childhood colored by deep-rooted values. From his earliest days, Jose found joy in connection: the echo of laughter across family gatherings, the lasting warmth in a friend’s embrace, and the start of a lifelong devotion to games that brought people together. He developed a keen spirit for competition, becoming a celebrated competitive domino player whose strategy was as legendary as his smile. 

Pursuing knowledge with equal zeal, Jose became a mathematician of remarkable insight. His mind saw patterns and possibilities, and he met every challenge with a thoughtful confidence. He gifted those around him the reassurance of reason, all while never losing the playful glimmer in his eye. Jose also found timeless solace in fishing and painting.

Wherever he went, Jose brought light. His laughter—warm, generous, sometimes roaring, sometimes gently amused—brightened every room. Friends and loved ones recall the way he made people feel truly seen, his compassion unwavering, his advice sound. There was a profound gentleness beneath his keen mind, and a welcoming spirit that gathered others near.

Jose’s heart belonged, most completely and enduringly, to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Rosario Pedraza, his children—Maricelis, Jose, and Michael Pedraza—each a unique reflection of the best he offered the world, and each forever enriched by the wisdom he imparted. In the continuing tapestry of the Pedraza family are their devoted spouses, Melina, Amanda, and Lydtz, who became his children through love and mutual respect.  To his grandchildren—Audrina, Josiah, Amani, Victoria, Joanalise, and Diannalise—Jose was a steady beacon, a dispenser of both life lessons and delighted mischief. His greatest pride was being their father and grandfather.

As the sun sets on a life lived with purpose and joy, Jose is remembered in every cherished game of dominoes, in every number calculated with intent, in every brushstroke of color, and in every shared moment of unguarded laughter. To his family and all who knew him, his absence leaves a quiet ache, but his presence remains indelible—etched into memory, woven through tradition, and alive in the spirit that endures.

A memorial service to honor Jose A. Pedraza will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Funeraria Luz De Paz, 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. As hearts gather to remember, may laughter warm the room once more, and may the stories of his love and kindness echo on for generations.
