Obituary for Jose Pizarro
Mar 17, 1946 - Aug 28, 2024
Jose Pizarro, born on March 17, 1946, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully at his home on August 28, 2024. He was the beloved son of the late Francisco and Manuela Pizarro. Jose relocated to the Bridgeport area many years ago, where he became a cherished member of the community.
Jose dedicated his life to his faith in God, committing to the Lord in 2003 and living each day guided by his deep love for God. He was a simple man, content with the quiet pleasures of life, including watching reruns on TV and knowing every line by heart—a testament to the joy he found in the warm settings he called home. His work ethic was unwavering, having worked for many years in various roles with the City of Bridgeport and continuing to stay busy with odd jobs around the city well into his later years.
He is survived by his loving children: Jose Raul Pizarro, Sr., and spouse Elsie; Rosa Barrett and her spouse Wilmur; and Angela Rosa (David Robertson). Jose was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Manuel, Anastacio, Felix, Bernardo, Julian, Jose Raul, Femin, Sara, Claudina Lopez, Leonides Arce, Rosa, Ivette Ortiz, Natividad Acevedo, and Eludalia Pizarro. He leaves behind a large extended family of 77 nieces and nephews, 44 great-nieces and nephews, and a host of great-great-nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06608.
Funeral services will be held at the Good Shepherd Christian Church, 725 Hancock Avenue, Bridgeport, CT, on Friday, September 13, 2024, beginning at 10:00 A.M., followed by interment at Park Cemetery in Bridgeport.
