Jose Raul Rivas "Nose”

February 7, 1970 — September 8, 2023

Bridgeport, CT

Jose Raul Rivas, affectionately known as Mickey or Nose, passed away on September 8, 2023, in Bridgeport, CT. He was born on February 7, 1970, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Jose will be fondly remembered for his infectious sense of humor and his unwavering ability to bring laughter into the lives of those around him. With a witty remark always at the ready, he could instantly light up any room he entered.

At Pete's Citing Company, Jose worked as a citing installer for over a decade. His dedication and expertise in his field earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. Colleagues remember him as someone who always went above and beyond to ensure that every job was done to perfection.

Outside of work, Jose's favorite pastime was spending quality time with his loved ones. Whether it was laughing together over shared memories or dancing to the rhythm of vibrant music, he cherished every moment spent with family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for children and animals, and his compassionate nature made him an invaluable presence in their lives.

One of Jose's trademarks was his love for Jamaican music. The infectious beats would instantly transport him to a place of joy and contentment. Among the many humorous quirks that endeared him to everyone were his playful mispronunciations – particularly when it came to saying "butter" in Spanish (makentiya). These small idiosyncrasies served as a constant reminder of the unique spirit that burned brightly within him.

When it came to food, nothing delighted Jose more than savoring Chinese cuisine. The tantalizing flavors brought immense pleasure to his taste buds.

Jose was not only amusing but also remarkably generous with his time and talents. He possessed an innate ability to build just about anything, always lending a helping hand whenever someone was in need. Whether it was constructing something for a friend or fixing a broken item, he approached every task with unwavering dedication and skill. He had a talent for transforming raw materials into beautiful creations that would endure for years to come.

In his leisure time, Jose could often be found riding his bike around, immersing himself in the simple joys of the world around him. The wind in his hair and the freedom of the open road invigorated his spirit. These moments of carefree exploration brought him immense happiness and allowed him to connect with the beauty of nature.

Jose is predeceased by his loving mother, Juana Feliciano and father Raul Rivas. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by his family and friends. His memory will be forever treasured by his sisters: Elizabeth Cordero, Mayra Diaz, Maria Rivera and Evelyn Natal; along with their respective partners Jason Cordero, Kent Diaz and a host of nieces and nephews that love and will miss him dearly.
