Josefina Martinez

Josefina Martinez, age 89, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, peacefully entered the eternal presence of the Lord on February 15, 2026, at Bridgeport Hospital while surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 18, 1936, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, to the late Luis Agosto and Paula Malpica.

Josefina was the beloved wife of the late Jose Martinez, with whom she shared a life rooted in faith, devotion, and family. She has joined him in heaven along with their late son Jacinto Bruno. She leaves to cherish her memory by her loving daughter Rosa M. Silva, her husband Efrain Silva, and their four children Jacqueline Abram, Jeannette Alicea, Jose Silva, and Diana Silva, and her five great grandchildren; Olivia and Leo Alicea, Hadassah and Ariela Doucoure, and Monty Bruno Sen. 

She is also survived by her siblings Miguel Agosto, Juan Agosto, Merejildo Agosto, Clara Morales, Marina Morales, Lucia Cruz, Esteban Agosto, and Martina Cruz; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will deeply miss her presence in their lives.

Josefina was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. She cherished her relationship with God and found great joy in sharing the message of Jesus with everyone around her. Her life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and spiritual devotion, and she often inspired others to seek a relationship with God in praise and worship. Known for her nurturing heart, she was dearly loved by all who experienced her care and warmth which always extended beyond the four walls of her home.

After her love for God, Josefina’s greatest happiness came from being surrounded by her family. She treasured every moment spent with them and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and gentle strength.

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, February 20, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home, followed by a procession departing at approximately 1:15 PM to Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, CT, where interment will follow.

Josefina’s beautiful spirit, loving heart, and steadfast faith will remain forever in the lives she touched.
