Josue Saint-Fleur, son of Jeuse Prosper and Bernard Saint-Fleur, was born on September 10, 1972, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
Josue began his education at Louis Joseph School in Carrefour, Haiti, before immigrating with his family to Bridgeport, Connecticut, on November 12, 1987. He attended and graduated from Bassick High School in 1991. In the fall of that same year, he enrolled at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He later completed the Master of Arts in Teaching program within the College of Education and Health Professions at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, graduating on May 23, 1999.
Josue had a deep appreciation for education and particularly enjoyed working in the medical and scientific fields. While studying at Southern Connecticut State University, he taught science at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk. He also served as a research associate in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Yale School of Medicine, working with materials involving highly pathogenic viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis. In addition, Josue was a talented musician and participated in the Connecticut Honors Symphony Orchestra.
His pursuit of knowledge did not end with his graduate studies. Josue continued to enhance his academic background by taking courses at Yale University, Columbia University, and Harvard University. One of his proudest accomplishments came on November 6, 2005, when he was ordained as a pastor through the United Christian Leadership Alliance of Haitian Clergy in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Those who knew Josue will remember his warm smile and his desire to be present, recognized, and understood by the people around him. Above all, he sought to set a positive example for his son Joshua, with whom he spent countless hours studying, sharing conversations about education, and discussing what it meant to live as a Christian.
On the evening of December 20, 2025, at the age of 53, Josue’s life was tragically cut short while walking across Albany Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut. His immediate cause of death was reported as blunt impact injury to the head, neck, and torso-a reminder of how precious and fragile life can be.
Josue is survived by his son, Joshua Eli Blanchard; his mother, Jeuse Prosper; his twin brother, Caleb Saint-Fleur; his sister-in-law, Immacula Saint-Fleur; and his younger brother, Jean Saint-Fleur. He is also survived by his nephew, John-Caleb Saint-Fleur, and his nieces, Sarah Saint-Fleur and Sophia Saint-Fleur. He was predeceased by his father, Bernard Saint-Fleur, on August 10, 2020, and by his sister, Jeuse Bernard Saint-Fleur, on January 30, 2021.
Josue Saint-Fleur will forever be remembered as a man who loved God, adored his son, and cared deeply for all who crossed his path.
