Juan "Chebo" Eusebio Valentín Plaza, 89, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, surrounded by love.

Born on August 12, 1936, in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, Juan was the cherished son of the late Ruperto Valentín Mirabal and Rosa Plaza de Valentín. He was preceded in death by eleven siblings—Jose Anibal, Gloria, Jose Antonio, Eleodina, Gilberto, Jorge, Osvaldo, Miguel, Wilfredo, Ruperto, Samuel—and is lovingly survived by his youngest brother, Wilson.

Juan leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his children: John Valentín and wife Madeline, Shelly Valentin-Ramos and husband Eddie, Juan Valentín Jr., Jose Luis Valentín, Jenny Valentín, and Yesenia Reyes. He was a proud grandfather to Jacqueline Bullard and husband Kenny, Matthew Marchio, Alexa Valentín, Andrew Valentín, Jennifer Rivera, Sean Riley, Alexander Gonzalez, Mariana Diaz, Kenneth Jackson, Aaden Valentín, Jada Padilla, Anthony Padilla (predeceased) Angel Serrano, Zackery Serrano, Angelani Serrano and Collagio Serrano. He was also blessed with eleven wonderful great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.

Juan lived a life rooted in service, perseverance and family. As a young man, he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he built a life and career, working in several manufacturing companies, including Avco Lycoming in Stratford. There, he dedicated over thirty years as a skilled machinist, providing for his family with pride and commitment.

Above all else, Juan was a family man. He was the heart of his home and a steady source of strength for generations. Known for his warm smile and playful jokes, Juan had a gift for lifting spirits and bringing people together. He had a deep love for music and sports, especially baseball. For ten years, he pitched for the fast-pitch softball team Los Leones in Bridgeport and remained a lifelong New York Yankees fan. Many treasured memories were made attending games at Yankee Stadium.

In his later years, Juan resided at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home, where he spent four years forming meaningful connections with staff and residents alike. His kindness, humor, and gentle presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Juan will be remembered as a man of great heart, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. He found joy in the simple moments, pride in his children and grandchildren, and peace in togetherness. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the generations he helped shape. We are forever grateful for his life, his sacrifices, and the love he gave so freely.
