Juan Ramon Rodriguez

May 4, 1931 — May 29, 2025

Bridgeport

Juan Ramon Rodriguez, a bright light to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at his home in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was born on May 4, 1931, on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico in the town of Juncos, where his vibrant spirit began to take shape among the lush landscapes and rhythmic sounds of Latin music.

For over 25 years, Juan dedicated his working life as a machinist at Bassik, where he was known not only for his remarkable skill in setting tools but also for his friendly and cheerful demeanor that brought warmth and laughter to his workplace. His colleagues remember him fondly, noting that his generosity of spirit was as notable as his expertise in his trade.

However, it was in the kitchen where Juan’s heart truly flourished. A devoted fan of his late wife Raquel's cooking, he often proclaimed her alcapurrias de yucca to be the pinnacle of culinary delight. Their love was a testament to the moments they spent together, filled with laughter, shared stories, and a passion for family gatherings that revolved around the dinner table.

Juan had an infectious enthusiasm for Latin music, especially salsa, merengue, and bachata. His joy was undeniable as he would often lose himself in the rhythms, encouraging those around him to join in the dance. Beyond music, he cherished playing dominoes, but perhaps, most importantly, he relished the priceless moments spent with his family. He was a natural storyteller, delighting listeners with tales from his upbringing in Juncos, sharing his roots and experiences that built his foundation.

Juan was proud of his family, which includes his children Ralph Rodriguez (Daisy), David Rodriguez, and Joseph Rodriguez (Tanya). He held deep affection for his grandchildren—Michael, Robert, Gisele, Ashley—and his five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life as well as his extended family.

He joined in eternal rest with his beloved wife Raquel, dear son, Edwin Rodriguez, and his beloved parents, Matias Rodriguez and Dolores Nieves.

In honoring his memory, family and friends are welcomed to join in a viewing, to be held on June 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Thursday, June 5 at 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 5 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 1255 East Main Street, Bridgeport, CT.  Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford, CT.

Juan's legacy will forever resonate through the lives he touched and the stories that will continue to be shared by those he loved. His laughter, kindness, and generous spirit will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
