It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Julio Garcia, a beloved member of the Bridgeport community. Born on July 21, 1936, in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, Julio embraced a life rich in faith, and dedication. He departed from us on July 29, 2024, in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and devotion. Julio was the cherished son of the late Sixto Garcia and Ana M. Arce. He spent his later years in Bridgeport, CT, where he became an parishioner of St. Charles Barromeo Church. His faith was one of his guiding forces in his life, and he was one of the proud member of the Knights of Columbus group within the church and has been since it became an active part of the St. Charles Barromeo Church. Julio’s commitment to the mission of the Knights of Columbus was unwavering, and he found great joy and fulfillment in his involvement with the organization. Additionally, he proudly served this country in the United States Army. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years Aida Luz Burgos, his daughter, Mayra Garcia of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, and his blended family children: Rafael Lagares, Brenda Lagares, and Brenmarie Lagares. Julio’s heart extended to his ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Edwin Garcia and Judith Garcia, who will miss him dearly. A public viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Julio will be laid to rest in the serene grounds of Las Mercedes Memorial Park in Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico. Julio Garcia’s memory will forever remain in our hearts. We are grateful for the time we shared with him and will continue to honor his memory for years to come.
