Justina Carrasquillo

September 25, 1929 — May 2, 2023

Bridgeport

Justina Carrasquillo, of Bridgeport, CT passed away in peaceful rest of the Lord on May 2, 2023 at the
age of 93 surrounded by her family. She was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on September 25th to the late
Santos Medina and Josefa DelValle. She moved to Ct in 1952. She married her late husband Pedro
Carrasquillo on January 8, 1955 and is survived by her 7 children, 17 grandchildren and 17 great-
grandchildren.
Justina was a devoted and loving mother who always placed God and her family first. She was a kind and
caring person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her children were her
pride and joy, and worked tirelessly to provide them with a loving and nurturing home.  She was a
member of St. Mary's parish, where she was a Cursillista and a member of the cofradas.  She loved the
Lord her Savior with all her heart and lived a life dedicated to her faith. She was a devout Catholic who
found great comfort in prayer and attended mass daily. Only heaven knows what a wonderful and
eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying had on her family, friends and the world. Justina
was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an avid gardener dedicating countless hours
tending to her garden. Her love of gardening was evident in the beautiful roses and plants that filled her
yard. A self-taught seamstress, Justina had a talent for sewing and creating beautiful wedding dresses,
her children’s suits, daughters’ dresses and curtains for family and friends. Her greatest joy was cooking
delicious Sunday Puerto Rican dishes for a home bursting with love and family.  She enjoyed hosting all
holidays for family and friends and was the absolute best cook.
Justina will be deeply missed by her children Carmen Rivera, Alberto Carrasquillo, Theresa Carrasquillo,
Jose and Blanca Carrasquillo, Ana Carrasquillo, Victor and Martha Carrasquillo, Miguel and Milagros
Carrasquillo. She is also survived by her siblings, Pedro Medina, Anastacia Gonzalez, Manuel Medina
and Mercedes Jimenez. She joins her siblings, the late Benito Medina and Rafael Medina in everlasting
peace. Justina leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and devotion to family. Her memory will live in
the hearts of her family, friends and all who loved her.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on May 5, 2023 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 25
Sherman Street Bridgeport, Ct. at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow immediately after at Mountain Grove
Cemetery 215 Dewey Street Bridgeport, CT.
