Lucia Maria Cabeleira, a cherished soul whose kindness touched the lives of many, departed from this world on December 7, 2025, in Bridgeport, Connecticut the day before her mother Maria J. Pires passed. She was born on November 16, 1964, in Montelegre, Portugal, and her journey through life illuminated the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
For many years, Lucia dedicated herself to her career as a Custodian for the City of Bridgeport. In this role, she not only maintained the cleanliness of the schools but created a welcoming and positive environment for students and staff alike. Her commitment was a testament to her character, embodying a spirit of love and care, and reflecting her belief in the importance of community.
Lucia was a beacon of positivity, characterized by her loving, caring nature and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. She embraced everyone around her, making those in her presence feel valued and cherished. The warmth of her smile and the depth of her compassion left a lasting impact that will resonate with countless lives. She was a devoted fan of Madonna and could often be seen singing and dancing along to her iconic tunes.
She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Patrice Willis and Lucilia Willis, who carry forward the light of her spirit. Lucia's legacy continues through her precious 5 grandchildren,(Lourdes,Tristan, George, Sophia, and Brayden). Her siblings who love her dearly, Ana, Fatima, and José. Also her beloved nieces and nephews – Elena, Armando, Jeffrey, and David. And her great nieces and nephew, Amanda, Dylan, Mariah, and Haley– each of whom knew that she adored them fiercely and shared in joyous laughter and affectionate memories.
Lucia was preceded in death by her father, Antonio Cabeleira, and her mother, Maria J. Pires, who passed away just a day after her daughter’s departure from this life. This poignant connection between mother and daughter is a testament to the deep bonds of love that transcend even the veil of death.
Her passing marks a profound loss for family and friends alike, yet they are comforted in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those she loved.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects for Lucia and her mother Maria during the upcoming services. Viewing will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT. A Mass in their honor will take place on December 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine's Cathedral, followed by burial at Mt. Grove Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
