Luis Antonio Colon, affectionately known as Big Lou, was born on December 3, 1973, in Bridgeport, CT. His journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit and strength, qualities that defined him until his passing on June 12, 2025, in Bridgeport, CT.
Big Lou was a product of the Bridgeport Public School system, where he attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Park City Magnet, and Central Magnet High School. Throughout his life, he embodied an outgoing and social personality, often lighting up a room with his jovial presence. Known as the class clown, Big Lou had a unique ability to make others laugh, providing joy and comfort to those around him. He was a caring individual, always willing to lend an ear or share an encouraging word with anyone who needed it.
In addition to his charming personality, he had a deep love for his family, which served as the focal point of his life. He expressed an unconditional love towards his children, Luis Jr., Steven, Jacquelynn, and Victoria Colon. Big Lou also shared a lasting bond with his father, Hipolito Colon, and his brother, Carlos Colon. Together, they created many cherished memories that will be forever remembered.
Big Lou's proudest accomplishments were his children, whom he loved dearly. Despite facing numerous health challenges as a true warrior, he seldom complained about the obstacles he confronted. His courage in the face of adversity became a source of inspiration to those who knew him.
In his leisure time, Big Lou pursued hobbies that brought him joy, collecting swords and knives and indulging in his passion for action movies. These interests complemented his spirited personality, showcasing the vibrant life he lived.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ginny Colon, and his son, Luis Colon Jr.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.
