Luz N. Garcia

Luz N. Garcia, age 89, of Bridgeport, CT, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 23, 2025, surrounded by the love, presence, and gentle care of her daughters, family and personal caregiver Ada Reyes. Born on December 9, 1935, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, Luz was welcomed in heaven by her beloved parents, Maria Espinosa and Manuel Cortez, and her siblings Rosa, Dalila, Auria, and Hector.

Luz was the cherished heart of our family, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth lit every room she entered. She found joy in dancing, playing dominoes, cooking traditional Spanish meals, traveling, and most of all, being surrounded by the people she loved. Her deep faith in God and unwavering commitment to her church were the foundations of her strength, guiding her with compassion, resilience, and grace.

The proud matriarch of our family, Luz was predeceased by her loving husband Manuel Garcia and by her children Maria Yvette Rodriguez, Brenda Enid Rodriguez, and Carlos Rodriguez, as well as her grandson Jimmy Almodovar and her granddaughter Luzzaida Rodriguez Cruz. She leaves behind a legacy carried forward by her children Luz Flores and Nydia Rodriguez, Nydia’s husband, Hector Baez; her grandchildren Griselle White, Alberto Medina, Angel Rivera, Brenda Lopez, Fernando Lopez, Tanya Lopez, Damaris Balarezo, Demaris Rodriguez, Carlos Rodriguez, Yvett Rodriguez, Grissell Lopez, Clarisia Rodriguez, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who adored her deeply.

Luz lived a life defined by strength, independence, and purpose. A dedicated machinist at Gaynor Switch in Stratford, and a talented cook, she worked tirelessly to provide for her family and took tremendous pride in the roles of mother and grandmother. She loved hosting gatherings filled with music, dancing, and laughter. Known for her beautiful style, vibrant spirit, and unforgettable laugh, Luz had a gift for making everyone feel loved, valued, and truly seen. She was a confidant, an advisor, and a steady light whose presence brought comfort and joy.

As we honor Luz’s life, we hold close the lessons she taught, to treasure family, to meet each day with faith, and to celebrate life with music in our hearts. Though she is no longer with us physically, her spirit continues to dance through every life she touched. May her smile, her strength, and her love live on in us always. And may we keep dancing, just as she would want.
