Marcelina Velazquez, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend passed away on September 1, 2024, at The Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. She was 90 years old, having been born on May 30, 1934. Marcelina's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of kindness, compassion, and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew her.
Marcelina dedicated 32 years of her life to Emson Company in Bridgeport, CT. Those who worked alongside her recognized her unwavering commitment to her career, but it was her kindness that left an indelible mark on her colleagues and friends.
Marcelina found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a profound love for world events and enjoyed watching the news, often sharing her thoughts and opinions with family and friends. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel across Europe and Mexico with her sisters, as well as embark on numerous bus trips throughout the United States. These journeys were filled with laughter, exploration, and the cherished memories that connected her to her loved ones. She was a devout Catholic who faithfully worshipped and praised the Lord.
She is survived by her sister, Carmen Iris Velazquez, and her brother, Angel Luis Velazquez. Marcelina’s legacy also lives on through her nieces Maritza Velazquez, Jeanette Konazewski, and Maria B. Lyons, as well as her nephew Angel Velazquez Jr.; her grandnephew, Manny A. Torrado, and grandniece, Mary A. Torrado.
Marcelina's passing is not only felt by her family but also by the multitude of friends who were privileged to know her. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Benita Fernandez and brother, Rafael Velazquez, as well as her parents, Carmen and Marcelino Velazquez. The memory of Marcelina will forever live on in the stories shared and the lives she impacted, a testament to a life lived thoughtfully and lovingly.
To honor her life, visitation will be held on September 7, 2024, at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT, from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM. A Mass will follow at St. George's Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, leading to her burial at Lakeview Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Together, we will gather to remember Marcelina Velazquez, celebrating the remarkable woman she was and the principles she lived by. Her kind heart and compassionate nature will continue to resonate in the lives she has touched.
