Maria Belen Diaz-Baer, a beloved resident of Bridgeport, CT, passed away on December 13, 2023. She was a genuine person with a heart filled with love for her fellow man, regardless of their status in life. Maria's kind and generous nature was evident in her selflessness and willingness to help others. She had a zest for life, radiating energy wherever she went, and cherished spending time with her friends and family, always embracing the joy of celebration.

Born on December 27, 1960, in Bridgeport, CT, Maria was the daughter of the late Rafael and Belen Diaz. Alongside her brother the late Victor Diaz and their nephew the late Micheal Sean Diaz, Maria today experiences with her parents, the warmth of her family that is reunited one by one in the presence of God. 

One of Maria's proudest moments came in the most recent months when she met William Gerwien IV, who became her fiancé. Their relationship blossomed quickly and William stood faithfully by her side, supporting her every step of the way in her journey. Maria was overjoyed to be engaged at this stage of her life and looked forward to sharing more beautiful moments with him.

Maria also leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family members. She is survived by her daughters Bridgette Baer, Brittney Baer, and David (Hannah) Baer.

In addition to Bridgette, Brittney, and David, Maria is survived by her siblings, Hector (Gladys) Diaz, her loving sisters, Edna (Pete) Cruz, Neida Robles, Sarah (Ralph) Silano, & Yvette Diaz; sister-in-law Lorraine Diaz ; William Gerwien-Fiance; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends whose lives were touched by Maria's loving persona. 

Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire and guide us in our own journeys. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and reminds us of the importance of cherishing every moment spent with loved ones.

The family extends the invitation for friends to join them for a viewing at the Funeraria Luz De Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. The viewing will be held on Sunday December 17, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, giving friends and family an opportunity to pay their respects and honor Maria's life.

A Mass will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church located at 170 Thompson St, Bridgeport, CT 06604. The service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM, and everyone will be meeting directly at church, thus providing a sacred space for all to come together in remembrance of Maria.

As we gather to bid farewell to a remarkable soul, let us find solace in knowing that her spirit will forever dwell within our hearts. May her legacy serve as a constant reminder of the power of love and the importance of living life with genuine warmth and generosity.
