Maria Guidi, beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was born on May 15, 1953, in Italy and brought her vibrant spirit, strong faith, and devotion to family wherever she went.
Maria is survived by her loving husband, Francesco Guidi; her cherished children, Vincenzo Guidi (Roseanne) and Francesca M. Gonzalez (Jaime); and her adored grandchildren, Vanessa Guidi, Jaida M. Gonzalez, and Jaime F. Gonzalez. She was also blessed with the joy of a great-grandchild, Kemryn A. Smith. In addition, she is remembered with love by her many nieces, nephews, and her siblings: Carmelo Maione (Carmelina), Lina Maione, Eva Cerquozzi (Armando), Angelo Maione (Wendy), Mario Maione (Mafalda), and Graziella DelFranco (Peter). She was preceded in death by her loving daughter Maria C. Guidi.
Family was always Maria’s greatest priority. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and was happiest when surrounded by them. A woman of strong faith, Maria was a devoted member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. She also held a special affection for St. Mary’s Parish in Bridgeport as well as St. Margaret's Shrine, where she found peace and strength praying before each saint.
Maria’s passions included gardening, cooking, and caring for her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She shared her culinary talents at La Scogliera Restaurant in Shelton, CT and Zio Ciccio's Trattoria in Westbrook, preparing scrumptious dishes that brought comfort and happiness to many. She enjoyed simple pleasures like shopping at ShopRite and Burlington Coat Factory and especially looked forward to family trips that created lasting memories.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, on Wednesday, April 30th beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by interment at Mt. Grove Cemetery, where Maria will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Maria’s memory to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, honoring her enduring faith and love for her community.
Maria’s strength, warmth, and unwavering devotion to God and her family will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
