Marina Ortega

Marina Ortega, age 84, passed away on July 28, 2023, in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT surrounded by her family. She was born on June 18, 1939, in Corozal, Puerto Rico to the late PFC Fernando Rivera U.S. Army WWII veteran and the late Francisca Rivera. In 1958, she relocated to the Bridgeport area and has resided here since.   Marina lived a life defined by quiet strength and personal connections. Throughout her life, Marina found joy in simple pleasures. She would enjoy taking a trip and exploring new places. If there was a weekend getaway, she was on board.  Those same moments today are priceless treasures in the hearts of many.

Marina is the widow of the late Teodosio M. Ortega-Perez

Marina's children held a special place in her heart, Oscar I. Ortega, Madelyn Ortega Rayo, Enid O. Tyson, First Sergeant U.S. Marine Corps. (Retired) Edwin Ortega, Carlos Ortega, and David Ortega were blessed to call Marina their mother.  Her love for each of them was immeasurable. In addition to her children, she is also survived by her siblings Gloria, Clara and Luz Rivera.  Marina is the grandmother of nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  She will be remembered by many friends, other relatives.  

In addition to her parents, Marina was preceded in death by her siblings the late Andrea, Eduvigis and the late Fernando Rivera Jr.

 A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 5-8 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. The visitation will provide an opportunity for friends and family to come together and pay their respects to Marina.

Funeral Services are going to be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home followed by an interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
