Melissa Rae Edwards

Melissa Rae Edwards, born on June 4, 1976, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in her hometown on June 11, 2025. She was a bright spirit who touched the lives of many with her creativity, passion, and unwavering strength.

Melissa attended the University of Indiana, where she expanded her knowledge and chased her dreams. A childhood ballerina, she graced stages with her talent, captivating audiences while expressing emotion through movement. Her love for music further flourished as she became a pianist, whose melodies resonated deeply with all who had the privilege of listening to her play. Additionally, Melissa showcased her grace and poise as a contestant in the Miss Indiana pageant, an experience that reflects her commitment to self-expression and the arts.

Melissa is survived by her loving mother, Miriam Parsons; her daughter, Neveah A. Edwards; and her son, Isaiah Johnson. She is also remembered by her brother, Michael Anthony Muñiz, and a host of friends and relatives. Each of them will carry her memory forward, cherishing the moments they shared and the lessons she imparted.

She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Walter Edwards, whose legacy she honored through her achievements and vivacious spirit.

A viewing in her memory is scheduled for Friday, June 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM at Funeraria Luz De Paz, located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.  Interment will follow immediately after at Mt. Grove Easton, 100 Harvester Road, Easton, CT.

Melissa Rae Edwards will be sorely missed, but her spirit will live on through her family and the many lives she enriched during her time with us.
