A lifelong learner, he delighted in keeping up with the latest technology and was always eager to share his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. As a devoted member of La Peña de Horeb church in Bridgeport, CT he served faithfully for many years, most notably as Co-Pastor, where he ministered with humility and devotion. In addition, he led as President of the Caballeros, taught Saturday and Sunday classes, and faithfully drove the church bus to bring his brothers and sisters to worship. His ministry and service were a true reflection of his deep love for God and his community.
Nelson proudly served this great nation in the United States Army, He was a dedicated employee for many years of State of Connecticut Department of Transportation and, upon retiring, moved to sunny Kissimmee, Florida. There he took great pride in working on his home, building friendships with his neighbors, and becoming an active part of his new church community, Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal, La Nueva Jerusalem. His love for his children and grandchildren was expressed in a special way—he created a unique song for each of them, including his great-granddaughter, leaving behind melodies that will always be cherished. Though divorced, he shared a lasting friendship and special bond with his former spouse, Carmen. A true sports enthusiast, he enjoyed them all, but basketball held a special place in his heart—when the game was on, it had his full attention.
