Nicolau Ramalho, passed away on November 19, 2025, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Born on July 19, 1969. Nicolau’s life was a celebration of family, friends, music  and the rich tapestry of his Cape Verdean heritage.

From an early age, Nicolau exhibited a deep pride in his culture. He was a true ambassador of Cape Verde, relishing traditional music and sharing the vibrancy of his roots with all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was an accomplished musician who shared his pride in his music.  His nostalgic reflections on memories from Agua Das Patas painted vivid pictures that filled his conversations with warmth and joy. His love for his community shaped his passions and devotion to serving those living on his beloved island of São Nicolau.

Nicolau was known for his friendly demeanor and loving spirit. His ability to connect with people garnered him friendships and admiration from all walks of life. He thrived in social settings, fostering an environment filled with laughter and camaraderie that would leave lasting impressions on all he encountered.

As a dedicated husband to Ana Ramalho, he built a life filled with shared dreams and unconditional love. His legacy continues through their children: Jerico, Dilvanilson, Nilson Djon, Daniel, Wilson and Nicholas, all of whom carry forward his values of family devotion and cultural pride. The joy that Nicolau felt in being a father was deepened even further with the arrival of his five grandchildren, (Leah Nicole, Kenneth, Hailey, Sienna and Yuri Alexander). He also had a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews whom he adored with every ounce of his heart.

Nicolau's family bonds extended beyond his immediate family. He is survived by his siblings: Marciano (Ana), Julio (Marisia), Heitor (Idilia) , Margarida (Zeca) , Rosa (Domenico), Antonia (Antonio), Pedro, Manuel (Albertina), and Maria Jose (Orlando). Along with his sisters and brothers in-law , Margarida (Antonio), Arcangela (Jose), Maria do Carmo (Jacinto), Maria da Luz (Pedro), Herculano (Amy) and Luis (Maria) each of whom hold onto precious memories and will carry his spirit forward. 

He was predeceased by his loving parents Pedro R. Ramalho and Julia M. Ramos and  spousal in-laws, Joao Miguel Dos Santos and Antonia Dos Santos whose values and lessons shaped the man he became.

A visitation in honor of Nicolau will take place on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT. In this time of remembrance, may those who knew and loved Nicolau take solace in the beautiful moments they shared, and may his spirit continue to inspire love and connection.
