Norma I. Vazquez, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted sister, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Born on November 22, 1947, in Santa Isabela, Puerto Rico, Norma's journey through life was marked by her nurturing spirit and endless love for her family.

Norma dedicated her career to serving others as the Resident Life Coordinator for the Housing Authority of the City of Bridgeport, where she made a significant impact in her community. Her warm heart and caring nature inspired those around her, and her legacy will continue to resonate within all the lives she touched.

Known for her culinary prowess, Norma was an accomplished cook who delighted family and friends with her mastery of traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. From her famous rice and beans to the cherished flavors of sofrito and coquito, every meal was a testament to her love and dedication. Beyond her cooking, she also possessed a remarkable green thumb, nurturing a lush garden from which she harvested a variety of vegetables including zucchini, beans, and gandules.

Norma is survived by her beloved husband, Luis A. Vazquez, and her cherished children: Norma Rentas, Ivette West (Michael), and Francisco Amaro Jr. She took immense joy in her role as a grandmother to six grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren, who will always hold her memory close to their hearts. Additionally, her sister, Migdalia Bones, remains to honor her legacy and lifelong bond.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Deborah Amaro, along with her parents, Gloria Malave and Jose Zayas. Each of these loved ones left an indelible mark on her life, and their memories will live on through those who carry forward the love and values they shared.

Family and friends are invited to honor Norma’s life with a viewing at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, followed by her burial at Mt.
