In Loving Memory of Olivia Caban Sepulveda

Olivia Caban Sepulveda, 88, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in her home, surrounded by many of those she loved. Born on April 15, 1937, in Moca, Puerto Rico, she was the beloved daughter of the late Juan Caban and the late Evangelista Rodriguez.

Olivia’s life was one of devotion, resilience, and joy. She was a proud mother to Lisette Batista (Sigfredo), Madeline Valentin (Johnny), Jose L. “Cuchito” Sepulveda (Yvonne “Bebe”), and Ivette Falero. Her love extended deeply to her grandchildren Jessica O. Sepulveda, Vanessa Batista, Jose L. Sepulveda Jr., Brandon Batista, Alexa Valentin, Andrew Valentin, Katerina Falero, and Carlos Sepulveda, as well as her great-grandchildren Aaliyah Sepulveda, Noah M. Sepulveda, and Madeline L. Henckel. She is also survived by her brother, Juan R. Caban, and was predeceased by her brother, Angel L. Caban.

In her younger years, Olivia worked as a seamstress in New York’s fashion industry, a craft she carried with pride. In 1974, she moved from the Bronx to Bridgeport, seeking a more peaceful environment to raise her children. As a single mother, her dedication to their well-being never wavered.

Olivia had a vibrant spirit and a love for music—especially salsa. She enjoyed lively gatherings, visits to the once-popular Wagon Wheel, and cherished trips to City Island in New York and sunny Florida. Above all, Puerto Rico held her heart, and she always dreamed of returning to her beloved homeland.

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Final disposition will be held privately.

Olivia’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
