Ramon Matta Rivera

February 1, 1940 — August 29, 2021

Ramon Matta Rivera, age 81, of Bridgeport passed into the Peaceful Rest of God in his home while surrounded by his loving family. He is the son of the late Carmelo Rivera and the late Carmen Matta. Ramon was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico but relocated to the United States many years ago and has resided in Bridgeport ever since. He is the loving husband of Carmen Rivera of Bridgeport. Ramon was a very simple man. He loved playing dominos with family and friends and watching a great game of baseball. A family man he always focused his energy in making sure his home and children never went without. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after working there for over 25 years. Ramon was an avid runner, who ran daily until very recently when his condition worsened. He was an original member of St. Mary's Parish in Bridgeport for many years and served in different capacities throughout the years, especially as a Cursillista. Above all Ramon looked forward to enjoying quality time with his family.

Besides his wife, Ramon is survived by his son Jose Rivera Jr. and his wife Nora; his daughter Carmen G. Rivera; his grandson Steven J. Rivera and his spouse McKenzie; and a host of other relatives and friends whom will sorely miss him.
